Isothermal Extrusion with N5Nitrogen Liquid Nitrogen Technology
Using isothermal extrusion in the aluminium extrusion process is crucial to extrude high-quality profiles and keep the productivity high.
Surface defects like die pick-up, die lines, blisters and tearings are common problem among the aluminium extrusion facilities worldwide. To minimize such defects most of the extrusion companies usualy reduce the speed, affecting the global productivity.
The Isothermal Extrusion reduces all these defects without decreasing the extrusion speed. Our liquid nitrogen technology helps to improve profiles’ surface quality while maintaining the extrusion speed high and reducing the the scap quantity.
MAIN ADVANTAGES OF APPLYING ISOTHERMAL EXTRUSION

Higher extrusion speed

Longer production runs

Better surface quality

Better mechanical characteristics

Increased Die life

Stable production process

Higher productivity

HOW DOES THE ALUMINIUM ISOTHERMAL EXTRUSION WITH N5NITROGEN WORKS?
The isothermal extrusion is done by injecting liquid nitrogen into the die, to reduce the overheating caused by the friction during the extrusion process. It helps to increase the extrusion speed while avoiding surface defects like tearing, flow lines, excessive die lines, excessive die pick-ups, oxidation and other overheating defects.
EXTRUSION SPEED WITH AND WITHOUT LIQUID NITROGEN TECHNOLOGY

N5NITROGEN TECHNOLOGY CONTROLS THE EXTRUSION PARAMETERS, MANAGES THE PRESS SPEED AND THE LIN FLOW TO MAXIMIzE THE PRODUCTIVITY AND THE QUALITY OF THE PROFILES
The performance is guaranteed by Self-Learning and Auto Pilot. AUTO TUNE automatically setup the nitrogen flow and the profile speed for a new die, while AUTO PILOT automatically opens and closes the nitrogen flow to achieve Isothermal Extrusion.
DESIGN OF SPECIFIC COOLING CHANNELS IS ESSENTIAL
To prevent the overheating and to increase the productivity in aluminum extrusion, extrusion dies with specific cooling channels are required. Our consultants are available all the time to support the clients in designing proper die channels. According to the profile, the channel can be made on the backer, on the die cap or on the mandrel.

CONTINOUS RESEARCH
We are constantly carrying out studies on how to reduce extrusion defects due to overheating. For example, by examining the extrusion stop zone on the profile (for a billet change) with a microscope, we have proved that those zones are cleaner when using our nitrogen technology. Some experimental studies are still carried out, and they are clearly showing that using nitrogen during extrusion reduces the flow lines on the profile extruded.
